The Falmouth Theatre Guild will present a special benefit performance of two operettas, “The Telephone” and “The Medium” by Gian Carlo Menotti, together on Saturday, September 6, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, September 7 at 2 PM, at Highfield Theatre, 58 Highfield Drive in Falmouth.
Jodi Edwards and Frank Capitanio, both of Falmouth, will portray the roles of Lucy and Ben in “The Telephone,” a one-act comic operetta about a woman whose telephone competes with her boyfriend for her attention.
“The Medium” is a tragic, one-act operetta about a fraudulent clairvoyant teetering on the edge of insanity.
Holly Seebach of Halifax plays the title role of Madame Flora, and Laura Cervinsky of Quincy plays Monica, Flora’s daughter.
Brian Buczkowski of Teaticket plays the tragic mute, Toby.
Katie Lynch Koglin of Cotuit and Tom Hoke of Falmouth play Mrs. and Mr. Gobineau. Sheila Furtado of Sandwich plays Mrs. Nolan.
The performances are a benefit for phase two of the Falmouth Theatre Guild’s Costume House renovation project.
The guild has been working on a major project to renovate the costume house, located in a building near the theater, and is now completing the job and restoring and repairing the costume collection.
There will be hors d’oeuvres served and a cash bar open an hour before the curtain rises at 6:30 PM on September 6 and 1 PM on September 7.
A silent auction will also be held before each performance with items donated by local merchants.
Tickets for the benefit events are $25 ($10 of which is a tax-deductible donation) and are available at www.falmouththeatreguild.org.
