By: ENTERPRISE STAFF, June 4, 2014
On Friday, June 6, the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod will co-host the first Project X event of the Plain Talk initiative, featuring rapper Levi Bazilio and friends.
The event is free to all Cape teens in grades 7 to 12. Free refreshments will be served at 7 PM, and the performance will start at 8:30 PM and end at 10 PM. The Boys & Girls Club is at 31 Frank E. Hicks Drive in Mashpee.
Levi Bazilio, a Mashpee resident, is an 18-year-old who first discovered his love for music at 14 and started writing and recording his own songs and performing soon after. Levi is well known across Cape Cod and has performed in Boston and Providence. He will graduate from Falmouth High School in June and plans to continue performing music while attending Wheelock College in the fall.
Joining him will be other young local emcees Tracy Howerton, aka Tra Gualla, Justin Roderick-Rivera, aka Class Act, and Joshua Whipper, aka JWhip. Sixteen-year-old Marc Rocheleau, aka DJ Roche, will be spinning at the event.
Plain Talk is a new initiative. Its mission is to improve the lives of young people on Cape Cod by amplifying their voices in the community.
Funded by the Cape Cod Five Foundation, Plain Talk will co-host a series of youth-generated, youth-centered events across the Cape as part of its Project X. The Boys & Girls Club will be the first organization to co-host a Project X event, with events planned for other towns.
