The main gallery at the Falmouth Art Center will be the site of the Monotype Guild of New England’s members exhibit beginning June 12 and running through July 7. A reception and art opening for the public will be held on Saturday, June 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. Refreshments will be provided.
Also on June 14, the Falmouth Art Center will be hosting a clay workshop featuring the technique of sgraffito. The workshop will be led by Sarah Caruso and will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Sgraffito is the technique of carving through contrasting colors of clay, and has many possibilities for both beginner and advanced clay students. Students will also learn to make special Sgraffito tools to bring home to continue to practice what they have been learned. Participants are asked to bring leather-hard work of their own or use the tiles that the artist will have prepared. Tools will be provided. Bring a brown bag lunch. The workshop costs $40 for members of the Falmouth Artists Guild or $45 for nonmembers. To register, call 508-540-3304 or visit the Falmouth Art Center’s website.
The Falmouth Art Center is at 137 Gifford Street.
