'Young Frankenstein' Opens At Highfield Theater In Falmouth
By: ENTERPRISE STAFF, April 29, 2014
Falmouth Theatre Guild presents its spring production “The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein” with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Mel Brooks.
Mel Brooks has said the 1974 comedy starring Gene Wilder is his favorite of his movies. The title character, a grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, inherits the old family castle in Transylvania and gets roped into making a monster of his own.
All of the classic jokes from the movie are in the musical, plus more singing and dancing.
The Falmouth Theatre Guild production has some surprises, including the look of the monster and the elaborate set of the castle. At each of the nine performances, the cameo role of Count Dracula will be played by a well-known person from the community, including Falmouth Police Chief Edward Dunne, Falmouth Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Jay Zavala, and restaurateur William Zammer.
The show is directed by Davien Gould with musical direction by Glenn Starner-Tate and choreography by Heather Shepley.
The show runs May 2 through 18 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM at Highfield Theater, 58 Highfield Drive, Falmouth.
Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at falmouththeatreguild.org or 866-811-4111. For group sales, call the box office at Highfield Theater at 508-548-0400.
