Odds And Ends

Sometimes being online can lead to some interesting stuff. Such was the case yesterday. First, with all credit to Deadspin for posting this youtube video, I give you the guy that really, really hates the University of Tennessee. There’s hate, and then there’s how this guy feels about the Vols. It’s almost as much as I hate dentists, almost.

Then there’s this very disturbing story. Now, if you don’t want to have any more babies, I can understand that. There are times that I feel that way, and then my wife reminds me that I don’t have any say in the matter, we’re having more some day. Okay, I can live with that. But, more importantly, can’t you just call in sick if you want to watch the NCAA tourney the first two days? Actually, for me, part of the fun is being at work because with CBS.com you can watch the games at your computer and I’m able to update the brackets for everyone right there. It’s fun to let people know that they’re already mathematically eliminated before the night games have begun on Thursday.

I want to get into the Red Sox and keep up on their preseason, but there’s something about the preseason that bugs me — it’s boring. Really, it’s hard to get into it at all.

However, for those of you that can’t get enough of the Sox, there’s a great preseason magazine you should pick up from the Maple Street Press. Oh, and a certain someone that you know has a story in it, and it came out pretty well. I wrote a piece on Jacoby Ellsbury and I’m pretty happy with it, and on top of it it’s awesome to be published in a magazine, I will admit. Sure I’ve been published in Summer Stars for the past two years, but that was an Enterprise publication. This was something that I was recruited to do, and it felt awesome to see my name in there magazine. It should be at most major bookstores by now, and you might be able to find it at a lot of convenience stores as well. There’s a very cool picture of Josh Beckett on the cover.

Speaking of the NBA (okay, we weren’t but, whatever, I needed some kind of a segue), what is going on with the Houston Rockets? They’ve won 19 in a row, seven without Yao Ming, who is out the rest of the season. It’s unreal, quite a winning streak. It’s nice to see someone can with 19 straight (okay, that was uncalled for, but we all deal with pain in our own ways).

Why is it that Comcast always seems to lose the internet at night? I’d love to be able to post this thing before I head off to bed, but it will have to wait until later today. The net is down, and I’m lost without it. What I don’t get is how come my cable still works, but the internet doesn’t. It’s the same wire.
