Musing It Up

cobraHey folks, just watching some TiVo’d WSOP at home, fighting an upset stomach and wondering what it is about Tampa that gives the Red Sox such trouble.

** speaking of the Sox, nice to see that Papi came back from the PED scandal and started raking. Maybe he knew all along and this just lifted the weight of wondering when the hammer would drop. Maybe he’s trying to prove a point. Who knows?

** And, I love the trade for Victor Martinez. The guy’s a great teammate and a heckuva hitter. And the handshake thing is going to be fun to watch. In Cleveland he had a personalized handshake for all of his teammates. Bill Simmons wondered before if he’d break out new ones for every player or if he’d re-use old ones. Let’s just hope he doesn’t show up in a scandal next week.

** soccer players are funny. They love to act like they’re very tough, but when they actually get mad at one another they never throw fists. They might push and shove, but there won’t be any finger nails broken. But they are good actors. Wesley Snipes has nothing on these guys looking like they got shot when they were barely touched.

** Umm, vaccinations for the Swine Flu? Really. It’s the flu with a fancy name. I wonder what the mainstream media will be blowing out of proportion next? Remember that little thing you have called an immune system? Yeah, it usually takes care of these things for you after a couple of days, if it lets you get sick at all.

** ESPN is apparently taking away Twittering rights from its talent if its not ESPN-approved content. This could be a big problem for a lot of there guys, especially Simmons and Matthew Berry. Those guys are binge tweeters.
** Cape League regular season ended tonight. I’m not too upset about that. The Falmouth team just never got anything going. They had a week where they were pretty good, but that was about it. The relief pitching was bad, and that’s that. Kind of appropriate that the regular season ended on a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

** Can’t wait to go see GI Joe tomorrow night. I realize that there’s a good chance that it will be sub-par, but what the heck, I want to revisit my childhood and see lots of explosions and ninjas. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ninja fight? Mo Cheeks is on board for the 12:01 AM showing with me and it looks like Eagle One might be too. Good times ahead.

On that note, I’m going to break out my blue hood and paint my eyes black. Coooooooooobrrrrrrrra.
