There is a thin line between remembering history so we do not forget it and invoking history to provoke a fear response — and I feel that any comparison between the nation’s leader, whoever that is, and the Nazi regime falls on the wrong side of that line.

Instead of comparing any President and his policies to one of the darkest times in history, I’d really love to see people simply present, based on actual data that hasn’t been spun by either side, an objective analysis of the President’s policies and their measurable real-world impacts and _probable_ repercussions — not an extreme worst-case scenario based more on largely coincidental similarities to another scenario.

…a scenario, I add, that was directed and shaped heavily if not exclusively by an individual’s very personal (and, by all reasonable measurements, sick and insane) agenda. Whether we’re talking about Bush or Obama, what is their true goal? Are they grabbing for personal power and attempting to subjugate any who would oppose that effort (as Hitler did), or are they men making a sincere effort to improve their nation the way they feel best for all citizens?
