The circus goes on and on and on. More than ever, as I look at the sorry sorry set of Republican “rivals” on the other side, I am thankful to have Barack Obama as the President, and as a viable candidate for re-election. Mr. Obama: your heart, your values, and your basic decency are all in the right place. But...your hands are tied. Unfortunately they were tied by us, the electorate.....when we failed to provide you with a Congress that you can work with. Instead, you are saddled with a don’t-tax-the-1%-do-nothing Congress that battles you at every turn, while the people suffer. God, they don't EVEN let you pass your own appointments. It's not Tea-publican gridlock - it's Tea-publican sabotage. Heck, it's Tea-publican treason....while the 99% suffers. And then they try to pin the blame on Mr. Obama. These people have no shame...or else its been purchased by those who can afford to do so. Grandma gets her meager Social Security check, and they call it socialism. You can’t make this stuff up! Thankfully, with Occupy Wall Street America has found its voice : a voice that reminds us that people -ordinary working people- really DO matter. Instead of talking about less government , and more and more painful cuts to those who can least afford it, it’s a voice that demands a government that WORKS, a government that works FOR ALL OF US, not just for a favored few, not just for the rich. It’s a voice that comes up from the grassroots, and lifts us up: because it insists that this land IS our land...and that we WANT IT BACK! And most importantly, it's a voice that will help us re-elect the President AND give him a more progressive Congress to work with. Mr. Obama: I wish you well. You STILL give us hope.

When I first suffered through Perry's, er, speech... I thought pain pills. But maybe not since their leader, Limbaugh, seems to get by ok. Perhaps drunk is right.

When it comes to Tom Keyes this political "know it all" is way off the mark! Tom keyes independently knocked on thousands of door, stood in front of post offices, and supermarkets in every town in the district, etc. Not once was any of the other canditates invloved with anything Tom Did! He went to the people with the truth about Beacon Hill! With little money to her big bank roll (11 times more) he came darn close 2%. People are sick and tired of the back door deals & misuse of public funds (our tax $)

The campaigns for Perry & Hunt had absolutely nothing to do with how well Tom Keyes did in his bid for State Senate. The people of Plymouth & Barnstable counties have had enough with our Senate President, her backroom deals, how out of touch with reality she really is and the trips to Ireland, Finland and Russia that have produced nothing. Mr Keyes ran an independent race - door knocking throughout all of the towns, hand shaking and talking to the people gave him a great race - not the coat tails of Perry & Hunt.

Eileen, you're the kind of Christian I like and wish were more numerous. Or perhaps you do in reality outweigh the (to put it charitably) less positive representatives of the faith, and it's just the radicals and the hardcores who get all the attention and ruin it for everyone else.

As a conservative Christian I don't find your blog offensive at all. I believe that God created us in His likeness, which means we should know how to think and decide what is right for us and what is wrong. I'm also an American citizen who believes that the constitution protects all of our speech, and not just the people who think the way I do! If these parents don't want their child (though at 16 this kid should be able to think on his own) exposed to economics, it is within their right to homeschool him. It is not within their rights to decide what my children should be exposed to! And yes, the Bible has everything in it, masturbation, murder, incest, every sin man can commit is in there somewhere! There are some books that I don't believe belong in school libraries (Hustler comes to mind!) but by the time a child has reached high school age, if you have done your job as a parent, they will be able to decide for themselves what not to read!
If these parents want that much control over what their children should and should not read, maybe they should relocate to a country like Iran, where the government has control over everything, including morality! Me, I'll live with the sin in this country simply so I may express myself, and read the books that will educate me on what is going on in the country!

I read this book years ago. The one message that really stuck with me occured while she was working for Merry Maids. She was cleaning someone else's toilet and she reached the conclusion she did not ever want to have "a toilet cleaning relationship" with another human being. I clean my own house now. One of the most Christian thoughts I have ever heard.

Oh and I like the bible too...

It's really unfortunate that "Christians" don't take time to evaluated an idea and then consider how their reactions will appear to others.
