It’s been a while but it’s good to be back. Had the privilege to entertain over 500 soldiers at Otis AFB inside Tactical Base Kelly last week. Troops couldn’t have been nicer and appreciative. A real pleasure for me to be intro’d by good friend Gen. John Flanagan. Only fitting that the 500+ rose to give the General a lengthy standing “O”. Had they known his outstanding Air Force career in Vietnam of 2 silver stars, over 300 missions flown, Air Force Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and medals for gallantry (to name a few), they would have stood and applauded much longer.

Good to see old family friend Tommy Canty recently. TC has known me since infancy and has always been a kind, genuine class act. Only fitting that they named the Gus Canty Rec Center after his dad (another class act). Will be performing on June 21st at the Coonamessett Inn to benefit Pop Warner Football. Come out for an evening of laughs. Congrats to another family/childhood friend Troy Clarkson, who just received a big job as the Town Planner in Hanover. Troy has that wonderful charm and personality that you are immediately drawn to and a young man that did so much for the Town of Falmouth when he was selectman.

Had a blast last week playing in the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tourny at the Falmouth CC. On a scale of 1-10 folks, this event was a 12. From the tourny pace, to gift bags to the marvelous feast after at The Sea Crest, this was a complete home run. Good buddy Chuck Borge and his superb staff deserve an abundance of kudos for a job well done. Hats off also to my pal Clark Guinn and his fabulous Sea Crest staff. Have to tell you that I came away from this tourny completely blown away by the phenomenal talents of one Durham Ghelfi. You will one day be reading about this young man in Sports Illustrated or Golf Digest. The kid comes from excellent stock with parents Scott and Wendy and his Uncle Mike, a tremendous golf pro. What skills this young man already has!!

Can we as a society PLEASE give up on the slogan, “Everybody is A Winner”/”Everybody Gets A Trophy”. Everyone is NOT a winner. We keep instilling this in today’s youth and we wonder why kids get so screwed up. We constantly teach them about winning but don’t prepare them on how to handle failure. Life is about competitiveness and we are doing such a disservice to our youth by giving them a silver spoon. You agree?

And a big shout out to one of my favorite people “Fast” Eddie Nazaro. Fast Eddie has the arduous job of commencing and ending meetings at the QD where on any given afternoon, world problems are solved, jokes are told and trivia echoe’s throughout the atmosphere. If you’re lucky, he’ll even throw one of his classic jokes your way. Lastly, here’s to my little pal Mikey, a 6th grader at MPS. An absolutely super kid who is always kind, gracious and respectful. My sources tell me that he’s an excellent actor and theater student as well. Keep reaching for those stars Mikey and you will pull one down. God Bless our United States Military.
