Joan T. Simpson, a three-term member of the Jonathan Bourne Public Library Trustees who once served as the board's chairman, submitted her letter of resignation this month because she is moving to Texas. The resignation is effective September 30.
“We are sad that Joan is relocating to Texas, she is a valuable asset to the board. Joan’s willingness to work behind the scenes and reach out to her community contacts to get the job done makes her the ideal board member,” said Kathryn G. Tura, chairman of the library trustees. “Her passion and enthusiasm for the Jonathan Bourne Public Library is going to be missed.”
The selectmen’s office has been informed of the opening on the library board. Residents interested in serving as a library trustee should submit a letter of intention to the board of selectmen stating their interest in filling Ms. Simpson’s remaining term (until May 2017).
A joint meeting of the selectmen and the Jonathan Bourne Public Library Trustees will be scheduled to appoint a new Trustee.
Ms. Simpson has one more meeting to attend before her resignation takes effect.
