An 18-year-old Buzzards Bay man was critically injured Sunday morning, June 15, when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla as he attempted to cross the Scenic Highway just east of the East Rotary.
Just before 9:32 AM, Bourne police said, the Toyota hit Anthony Sert of Puritan Road in a crosswalk between Cape Cod Charlie’s Bait and Tackle shop and the shopping plaza that contains Starbucks.
Police said Mr. Sert was critically injured. After receiving treatment from Bourne Fire Rescue personnel, Mr. Sert was flown by helicopter by Boston MedFlight to a Boston-area hospital.
The eastbound lanes of the Scenic Highway were shut down for about 45 minutes Sunday morning during the initial investigation.
Bourne police, who are investigating the accident, declined Monday to provide information about the driver of the Toyota or further information about what happened.
