A search conducted this afternoon by the Bourne police and several assisting agencies found a man who had fled with a weapon into a wooded area, threatening to harm himself.
The male, who was not injured, was brought to the Bourne police station for evaluation.
Bourne police officers responded at about 2:46 PM to a report of a male who had fled from a vehicle parked at the Four Ponds Conservation Area on Barlows Landing Road.
According to police, the male reportedly had a weapon in his possession and had threatened to harm himself prior to fleeing into the wooded area of the conservation area.
At the time of the report, the male had already been in the woods for at least an hour.
Bourne police immediately began a systematic search of the area.
Due to the large area and wooded terrain, the police expanded the search, bringing in help from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and the Massachusetts State Police, including the state police Air Wing.
After an extensive search of the area, the male was found hiding in the woods near Spinnaker Lane.
The man, who was not injured, was brought to the Bourne police station for further evaluation.
