Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Marie J. Oliva said that the move to the Cape Cod Fairgrounds was made in the interest of accommodating the large number of people attending the event.
Planning board chairman Christopher J. Farrell said the project needed two approvals—one as not being detrimental to the neighborhood, the other for site plan and special permit approval.
MMA vice president of operations Francis X. McDonald explained that with the growth of the academy's faculty and staff, along with expansion of the campus's buildings, MMA officials saw a need for more available parking.
Selectman Stephen F. Mealy explained that signing the lease, in essence, only provided Harvest Power with the land on which to operate.
There will be a hearing on the Upper Cape in Masphee in October.
