Sandwich resident Jill Di-Tomasso was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008 and, with the support of her good friend Laura Smith, she then made a commitment to make a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer. Thus, Girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. 5K Run/Walk was created with all proceeds going directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The funds are targeted for research in the development of a much-needed diagnostic tool for ovarian cancer and to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of this disease. Girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. has raised more than $200,000 for this cause over the past four years.
Parking will be at Town Neck Beach in Sandwich. Participants will walk across the Sandwich Boardwalk to start the race on Boardwalk Road. When this lot is full, overflow parking will be available at the Stop & Shop Plaza on Route 6A. Shuttle buses will be there to bring participants to the Town Neck Beach parking lot.
