On Saturday, August 16, experts from Bonhams, one of the world’s oldest and most respected auctioneers of fine art and antiques, will be at Heritage Museums & Gardens from 10 AM to 2 PM to discuss and evaluate an assortment of objects. Individuals can meet with an appraiser and receive a verbal assessment of up to five antique or collectible items. Appraisal fee (includes museum admission) is $25 for the first item and $15 for each additional item. As part of Heritage Member Appreciation Day, members will receive up to two appraisals free of charge.
To facilitate the appraisal process, participants are asked to make appointments in advance by calling Amy Corcoran at 617-742-0909.
Bonhams will be providing verbal appraisals of fair market value and/ or auction estimates. Specialists will be on hand to provide appraisals of fine art, Asian art, American and European decorative arts including silver, porcelain, needlework and furniture, and jewelry. They are also able to provide appraisals of objects from other categories from a photograph including coins, guns, swords, watches, books, rugs, movie and rock ’n’ roll memorabilia, automobilia, and more by consulting with additional specialists within their firm. A follow-up call will be necessary.
Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are also asked to bring in a photograph. If necessary, a follow-up appointment can be arranged to further inspect the item in person.
All items should be portable for transportation from the parking lot to the Heald Center. Heritage is unable to provide transportation assistance for items.
Heritage Museums & Gardens is at 67 Grove Street in Sandwich.
