Art Exhibit Opens At Green Briar In Sandwich

Illustrations from “The Turtle Sisters of Cape Cod Pond” by Susan Baur are currently on exhibit at the Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich.

Ms. Baur, a writer and psychologist, was introduced to Chatham’s ponds a few years ago and began another chapter in her life. Using an underwater mask with a digital camera built in, she documented the lives of the turtles in ponds from Falmouth to Brewster and, as a result, became involved in the conservation movement.

She has written and illustrated “The Turtle Sisters of Cape Cod Pond,” “The Turtle Sisters Learn the Best New Trick,” and “The Turtle Sisters Move to the Other Side of Cape Cod Pond.” This exhibit includes many of her book illustrations, which she describes as mixed media using her underwater photographs in a collage.

The exhibit runs through June 29. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 to 4 PM. A meet the artist reception is planned for Saturday, May 10, from 1 to 3 PM.
