The Mashpee Garden Club opens its new season with the program, “Iris, Lilies and Daylilies,” presented by Suzanne Mahler, on Wednesday, September 3, at 1 PM at Mashpee Public Library. The garden club is open to all from Mashpee and surrounding towns. Membership is $30 per year. Members get a 10 percent discount card from Mahoney’s Garden Center.
The club meets the first Wednesday of each month, ending with the annual meeting and luncheon in May. Topics this season are “Using Herbs,” October; “Growing Hollies,” November; “Gardens of Japan,” January; “Hydroponics,” February; “Pollinators and Their Importance,” March; and “Adding Plants to the Garden,” April.
Three flower-arranging workshops are planned for October 15, November 19, and January 21 at 1 PM at the library.
The garden club will have a table at the Mashpee Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 11, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the green across from the library. Residents are invited to stop by to register for a chance to win a fall centerpiece.
The Christmas luncheon is planned for December 3 at noon at the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth.
