The Cape Cod Writers Center is accepting applications from writers ages 12 to 18 years to participate in its annual Young Writers Workshop. This five-day workshop, to be held from Monday, August 4, to Friday, August 8, at the Barnstable Intermediate School in Hyannis, offers morning sessions for young writers from Cape Cod and elsewhere in southern Massachusetts. This year’s faculty are novelist Arlene Kay, poet John Bonanni, and columnist/nature writer Mary Richmond. During the workshop, students have an opportunity to receive individualized attention from professional authors; participants in past years have created an anthology of their work from the program.
CCWC judges will review the writing samples submitted with applications to accommodate a maximum of 50 students to the program. A one-time registration fee of $50 is due upon acceptance to the program. The deadline to apply for the program is Friday, June 27. Students whose families are unable to afford the fee are eligible for scholarships.
Students will receive notification of acceptance to the programs during the week of July 14.
