Cancer survivorship is being celebrated this summer with a special community literary event: a poetry contest. Poems were submitted by cancer patients, cancer survivors, caretakers, and family members with the theme “The Poetry of Pain & Survival.”
Falmouth Public Library will host a public poetry reading to announce the winners, and invite all participants to share their poems with one another and the community on Saturday, August 23, at 10 AM. The judges were poet Alice Kociemba, and literary enthusiast Lindsay Hopewood, both of Falmouth, as well as poet/cancer survivor Christine Ernst, who is affiliated with the Cotuit Center for the Arts.
This free event will include refreshments.
The Falmouth Public Library is at 300 Main Street in Falmouth.
