Preservation Falmouth, formerly the Save the Nimrod committee has turned its focus to preventing the demolition of the historic Elm Arch Inn, located just off Main Street.
The group, which is still seeking volunteers, met June 3 to discuss ideas to save the inn. They also recently attended meetings of the Falmouth Planning Board and the Falmouth Historic Districts Commisssion, when David Wald and his representative, Stephen O. McKenzie, presented their plans to demolish the Elm Arch Inn and build condominium units on Elm Arch Way.
The developers will present plans to the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, June 19, at town hall. Preservation Falmouth plans to attend that meeting.
Preservation Falmouth will also be at the Falmouth Planning Board meeting at town hall on Tuesday, June 17, at 6:30 PM, when the board considers the Local Comprehensive Plan. Section 7 of that plan deals with historical preservation.
On Wednesday, June 18, at 7 PM, Falmouth Historical Commission will meet at town hall and Elm Arch Inn is expected to be on the agenda.
Preservation Falmouth is inviting the public to join them in saving the historic inn by attending the above meetings and sharing ideas.
