The Town of Bourne has partnered with the Great American Rain Barrel Company in Hyde Park to offer rain barrels to residents at a discount. Barrels will be distributed Saturday, May 31, from 9 to 11 AM at the Residential Recycling Center, 201 MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne, but must be ordered in advance.
Each UV-protected polyethylene rain barrel is manufactured in the United States from a recycled shipping drum that stands 39 inches tall by 24 inches wide. It weighs 20 pounds empty, with a wall thickness of 3/16 inch, resulting in a rigid, heavy-duty barrel that will last a long time. The barrel comes with overflow fittings, drain plug, screw-on cover, and a threaded spigot with a choice of two ports to use with either a watering can or a garden hose. The barrel arrives with simple instructions on how to install.
Bourne is offering the Great American Rain Barrel in three colors: forest green, earth brown, or Nantucket gray at $69. To take advantage of this community program discount, go to https://greatamericanrainbarrel.com/c-99-bourne.aspx, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800-251-2352. Deadline for ordering is Tuesday, May 27, at 5 PM. Barrels are on display now at the Bourne Town Hall and the Jonathan Bourne Public Library, as well as at the Residential Recycling Center.
