Yarmouth Port resident and M.I.T. faculty member Fred Harris will discuss his work as a conductor, focusing on his own research and on how conductors develop their craft.  Dr. Harris is music director of the M.I.T. Wind Ensemble and the M.I.T. Festival Jazz Ensemble and previously taught music in the Belmont Public School system.  He has authored two books on music, Conducting with Feeling (2001), and Seeking the Infinite: The Musical Life of Stanislaw Skrowaczewski (2011).  This talk is free, but registration is appreciated.
