Author Christie Palmer Lowrance will be at Titcomb’s Bookshop on Sunday, August 25th from 2-4pm to celebrate the release of her new book Nature’s Ambassador: The Legacy of Thornton W. Burgess. This event is free and open to the public. Titcomb’s will be serving light refreshments including Burgess’ favorite beverage root beer floats as well as a celebration cake.
For over 100 years, the animal books and stories of beloved children’s author Thornton W. Burgess have delighted millions of children and their parents; more than of half his seventy books remain in print today. Nature’s Ambassador explores Burgess’s life and legacy, from his Cape Cod childhood to the present. With engaging text and historical pictures, this new biography will be a valuable addition to collections of historians, environmentalists, educators, librarians, and parents.
Christie Palmer Lowrance is a longtime freelance writer whose work has appeared in numerous national and regional newspapers, magazines and travel books, including the Boston Globe, Cape Cod Times, Barnstable Patriot, Good Housekeeping, Shape, Country Journal, Oceans, Cape Cod Life, and A-Plus Arts and Antiques. She has taught writing at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Cape Cod Community College, and the Cape Cod Writer’s Conference. She lives in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
