When: Tue Nov 27th
12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: St. David's Church | 205 Old Main Street | South Yarmouth
Dorothy Hogan-Schofield, Curator of Collections at the SandwichGlassMuseum will speak to the Cape Cod branch of the AAUW on Tuesday, November 27th at 12:30 pm at Nelson Hall at St. David’s Church,
205 Old Main St., SouthYarmouth
Dorothy Hogan-Schofield's talk will explore the lives of women who worked at the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company during the 19th century. These little recognized women did a variety of work at the glass factory including the packing and inspecting the glass for shipment; the care of the factory’s valuable molds; and of course the decorating of glass. Their work, talents, and artistry were frequently overlooked. However they contributed greatly to the output of the glass factory, often doing jobs considered too menial for the male employees and for which they were very well compensated. Featured will be glass, correspondence, photographs, and artifacts from the Museum’s collection.
The public is invited. More information is available by calling 508-394-3051.
