Community Messiah Sing Tradition Continues in Falmouth
Singers, instrumentalists and connoisseurs are invited to join the Falmouth Chorale and Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra, under the direction of John Yankee, to sing portions of Handel’s oratorio The Messiah. The event will be held at First Congregational Church in Falmouth on Friday, December 21, from 7 to 8:30 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
All singers and orchestral instrumentalists are welcome to participate. Participants can bring their own score or borrow one from the Chorale. Arias will be sung by all singers who wish to participate. Others are welcome to simply listen and be part of a tradition that marks the season. The concert will culminate in the singing of the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus.
“I anticipate the evening to be one of spontaneous, joyous, community music-making, in which everyone—singers, players and listeners—will be inspired and rewarded,” said John Yankee, Artistic Director of the Falmouth Chorale and Conductor of the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra.
This year the Messiah Sing is sponsored by the Falmouth Chorale with support from The Falmouth Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation. A suggested donation of $5.00 is requested from those attending. More information is available at www.falmouthchorale.org or by calling 774-392-2383.
