Music & More adds bright note to winter

DENNIS – Just as a new year begins, the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s popular “Music & More” concert series comes along to enliven many a wintry Sunday afternoon. The 12 acts scheduled represent a variety of musical genres, including pop, folk, blues, light classical and several types of jazz.

Kicking off the series will be “The Gentlemen and Jenifer,” featuring singer/songwriter Jenifer Jackson accompanied by Jason Mercer and Matt Kanelos, on Jan. 6. During her career, Jackson has toured the United States, Europe and Japan promoting her recordings. Her album “So High” received nationwide airplay and was named Best Soft Pop Album of 2003 by Tangents UK. Jackson also composed the score for the award-winning Indie film “Daydream Believer.” Folk tunes, the bossa nova and old-style country have all found a place in her diverse vocal repertoire.

The other 11 acts in the “Music & More” series are as follows:

Jan. 13: The Cape Cod Chamber Ensemble Sextet, with the “Wind Sextets” of Hayden and Mozart.

Jan. 20: vocalist Claudia Schmidt

Jan. 27: jazz vocalist Kate McGarry accompanied by pianist Tim Ray

Feb. 3: Take 3 Jazz

Feb. 10:  Brazilian Jazz, featuring vocalist/guitarist Livio Freitas

Feb. 17: standards by Society by the Sea, featuring vocalist Cerise

Feb. 24:  Bijou with gypsy jazz
