Michael Tougias, author of “A Storm too Soon,” will present a lecture and presentation on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 PM at the Jonathan Bourne Historical Center, a continuation of the Bourne Historical Society’s Maritime Lecture Series.
There is a $5 suggested donation.
Mr. Tougias, a Plymouth author known for his fast paced writing style and character-driven stories, tells this true story, a maritime thriller about survival, the power of the human spirit, and an intense helicopter rescue attempt at high sees. The Boston Globe wrote of Mr. Tourgias’ writing: “A heart-pounding account of the storm that tore apart a 45-foot sailboat.”
The annual lecture series will take place through April on every Wednesday with presentations on maritime adventures from published authors, curators and Bourne Historical Society members. All talks begin at 7 PM, take place at the Historical Center and suggest a $5 donation.
Following Mr. Tougias’ lecture will be a talk on April 17 about “Big Mamie,” the Battleship USS Massachusetts, given by Christopher Nadri, curator of the Battleship Cove Museum in Fall River.
April 24 will be “Another Barlow Mariner” given by Galon “Skip” Barlow, President of the Bourne Historical Society, who will regale the audience with the adventures and misadventures of yet another Barlow mariner.
