Richard Patrick Murphy has been chosen as the new director of finance and facilities for Falmouth Public Schools. Mr. Murphy replaces Michael Ward who resigned on June 30.
A committee comprising seven members, including two school committee members, recently completed the interview process with Mr. Murphy, who was selected from a pool of several applicants.
Mr. Murphy currently works for the New Bedford Public Schools as business manager for its 24-school, 12,700-student school district. Prior to this, he was a management consultant for Market Launch Group. He has served on the Barnstable School Committee, Massachusetts Association of School Committees and is the chairman of the community investment committee for the Cape and Islands United Way.
Mr. Murphy holds a bachelor of science in management from Boston College, a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and in 2013 completed the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials (MASBO) licensure program.
