A masked man broke into Rockland Trust on County Road in North Falmouth early in the morning on June 4 and made away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Falmouth Police Department received the report from a bank employee who arrived at work in the morning and reported the incident to police at 8:25 AM.
Video footage from North Falmouth Hardware Store, provided by owner Peter R. Diangelis of Hatchville, shows that a man exited the rear of the bank shortly before 3 AM wearing a mask and gloves. He appeared to be empty-handed. Shown in the hardware store footage, the man walked across County Road and loitered in the back yard of the store. He appeared to be looking for something. During the hardware store video, there were times the man was not wearing his mask.
It appeared that the man noticed he was being recorded by the hardware store surveillance camera because he pulled his mask back on and then exited the area, headed into woods at the rear of the property.
Falmouth police detectives are working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department in an active investigation.
Police have not revealed whether they have a suspect. A release was sent by the Falmouth Police Department at 11:20 AM Wednesday morning.
Earlier this morning, firefighters, police detectives and officials were seen investigating the rear door of the bank.
Mr. Diangelis will supply his footage to the FBI and police investigation. “I love it when I can help them out,” he said.
