Suspect in Armed Robbery of Waquoit Store Arraigned

The prime suspect for an armed robbery that took place at a Waquoit shoe store in January was arrested by the Brockton Police Department on a warrant and arraigned on Tuesday at Falmouth District Court.

Tinea M. Gilbert, 30, of Hayway Road, East Falmouth, was identified by Falmouth Detective Christopher Bartolomei as the suspect who robbed Westies Shoe Outlet at 486 Waquoit Highway on January 19.

A police report following the incident written in January reported Ms. Gilbert brandishing a knife at a store clerk, and then fleeing the scene on foot with $284. She was recorded leaving at 12:24 PM by a surveillance camera across the street at a Cumberland Farms.

Ms. Gilbert was also charged with larceny from a person over 65 years old and unarmed robbery of a person over 60 years old from a different incident that took place nine days prior in January.


Ms. Gilbert will appear before a judge for both charges on October 28 at the district court in Falmouth. She was released on a $5,000 cash bail on Tuesday.

The unarmed robbery took place on January 10 outside a Shaws Supermarket at the Falmouth Mall. Ms. Gilbert stole a wallet with approximately $100 in it from a man the age of 89 after assisting him with his groceries. She was identified by Falmouth police with surveillance camera footage, which was reported Patrol Officer James B. Rogers.
