On Saturday at about 8:46 PM, the Mashpee Police Department was called to the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room to investigate a stabbing that occurred that evening.
The victim, identified as West Yarmouth resident William A. Gile, reported to police that Forestdale resident Patrick E. Ivers, 22, cut him with a knife while he was driving on Great Neck Road North toward Route 130, with Forestdale resident Sean M. Leonard and Mr. Ivers as passengers. Mr. Gile suffered severe lacerations on his neck and minor cuts on his arm and face.
According to police reports, the incident stemmed from Mr. Gile’s failure to pay back a $200 loan from Mr. Leonard. Mr. Gile was unaware that the money came from Mr. Ivers. When Mr. Gile was unable to cash a check to repay the loan, Mr. Ivers cut Mr. Gile with a knife while he was driving and threatened to kill him and “wipe out [his] entire blood line” if he gave information to the police.
Mr. Ivers was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault to murder. He is being held without bail until his dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for Monday.
