A Mashpee Department of Public Works employee suffered a significant, but non-life-threatening, injury in a scaffolding accident shortly before 2 PM today, Acting Fire Chief Thomas C. Rullo has confirmed.
The employee reportedly fell from scaffolding while doing drywall work inside the Mashpee Archives building, which is across the street from town hall on Great Neck Road North.
The unidentified victim was transported to Falmouth Hospital for treatment.
The archives building has been undergoing major renovation work since last fall. DPW Director Catherine E. Laurent said that the building had been gutted inside, and that new HVAC and electrical systems, as well as handicapped accessibility features, were being installed in the 49-year-old building.
