Doris R. Jeffers, 73, of Pocasset died on August 2 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich.
Ms. Jeffers, who was known as Pat, was married to James E. Jeffers, a former veterans agent for the town of Bourne, for 54 years.
She was born in Littleton, North Carolina, the daughter of Sandy and Merine (Eaton) Yelity. In 1975, she moved to Pocasset.
Ms. Jeffers was a nurse’s aide for Pilgrims Pride Nursing Home in Mashpee before it closed. Later, she continued to care for patients while working at JML Care Center in Falmouth.
She enjoyed traveling and shopping, especially on Saturdays with her daughter, Cheryl.
In addition to her husband, Ms. Jeffers leaves her children, Michael D. Jeffers of North Carolina and Cheryl D. Rambert and her husband, Tony Rambert, of Hyannis; her grandchildren, Markus and Monique Jeffers; and her great-grandchild, Mason Jeffers. She also leaves her sisters, Lillian Turner of Virginia and Alma Harrison of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 7, from 5 to 7 PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne.
A private burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
