Jack Stewart Land, 71, of Mashpee, formerly of Silver Spring, Maryland, died on June 23 after a brief battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife, Marilyn (Franklin) Land.
Mr. Land was born in Washington, DC. He lived and worked there until moving to Cape Cod in 2000.
He served in Okinawa, Japan, as a member of the US Army.
After his discharge from the Army he worked for Melart Jewelers in the Washington, DC, area for 30 years. He was vice president of store operations until the business was sold in 1995.
Mr. Land was a member of the Samuel Gompers Masonic Lodge in Maryland.
He also developed a toy program for underprivileged children. For 25 years he donated more than 1,000 toys each year to various charitable agencies in Maryland and Cape Cod during the Christmas season.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Land leaves his children, Donna Stein and her husband, Mark Stein, of Newton, and Susan Manny and her husband, Paul Manny, of Ijamsville, Maryland; and his five grandchildren; Haley, Jillian and Zachary Stein, and Andrew and Chase Manny.
Interment will be private.
