James J. Kelly, 73, of East Sandwich died unexpectedly on April 16.
He was married to Merle (Quevillon) Kelly for 47 years.
Born in Boston and raised in Watertown, he was the son of James Laurence and Catherine (Brennick) Kelly.
In 1959 he graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown.
He began his employment with the Watertown Fire Department in 1965, retiring as a lieutenant in 1999 after 34 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Tara Kelly of Vermont, Matthew Kelly of South Carolina and Jennifer Kelly of Shirley; six grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Griffin of Lexington and Patricia Smith of Concord; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by six sisters.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 25, from 4 to 7 PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich.
A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, April 26, at noon at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich.
