John Sorenti Robinson, 53, of Nantucket, a former Sagamore resident, died on May 30 at his home after a long battle with diabetes. He leaves family in Mashpee.
Mr. Robinson was born in New Bedford to John W. Robinson and Marcia Sorenti Huff.
He attended Sacred Heart School in Kingston and graduated in 1979 from Bourne High School, where he excelled as a pitcher with the baseball team. Mr. Robinson also played American Legion baseball and in the Southeast Cranberry League.
In 1984, Mr. Robinson moved to Nantucket, where he met and married his wife of 25 years, Anne Roberts.
In addition to his wife and mother he leaves his sons, Cameron Robinson and Colton Robinson, both of Nantucket, and Patrick Willett of Mashpee; his sisters, Victoria Robinson of Sagamore, and Shannon Lumley and her husband, John Lumley, of South Plymouth; his brother, Patrick Robinson and his wife, Lynn Robinson, of Nantucket; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mr. Robinson was predeceased by his grandparents, Dante (Pat) and Catherine Sorenti; and his cousin, Scott Sanford.
A funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, June 12 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, followed by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Sandwich.
A celebration of Mr. Robinson’s life will be held in Nantucket at a later date.
