Joseph M. Manning, 87, of Mashpee died August 13 at the JML Care Center in Falmouth.
He was the husband of Mary (O’Connell) Manning for 60 years.
Mr. Manning graduated from High School of Commerce in Boston, where he served as class president. He later enlisted in the US Navy, serving in Washington, DC.
He also served on the USS Oriskany during the Korean War.
After his service, Mr. Manning worked in the beer industry and also owned the Weymouth Landing Recreation Center. He was a former resident of Weymouth and Dorchester.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Susan Clement and her husband, Richard Clement, of Cotuit; Paul Manning and his wife, Suzanne Manning, of Mashpee; and Lori Hennessy and her husband, Mark Hennessy, of Plymouth; and his six grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Sally (Comella) Manning and twin brother of the late John P. Manning.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 17, from 1 to 4 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, at 11 AM at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.
Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
