Kathleen M. Wingsted

Kathleen M.  (Gosselin) Wingsted of Mashpee died August 24 at the JML Care Center. She was 79.

Ms. Wingsted was the wife of Walter Wingsted, to whom she was married for 56 years.

She graduated from the first coed class at Boston College in 1956, and later earned her master’s degree in 1981.

Ms. Wingsted worked as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist for the Wachusett Regional School District until her retirement.
She was a member of the Mashpee Women’s Club.

In addition to her husband, Ms. Wingsted leaves three children, Mark Wingsted and his wife, Tonia Wingsted, of Plymouth, New Hampshire, Janet Gerding and her husband, Mark Gerding, of Biddeford, Maine, and Julie Phelan and her husband, Ged Phelan, of Mashpee; her sister, Jean Martin of South Yarmouth; and her eight grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at St. Jude’s Chapel at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.

Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
