Phyllis K. Rubin, 85, of Falmouth died on May 28 after a long illness.
Ms. Rubin was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Robert and Esther (Shapiro) Kanter.
She received her BFA at Parsons School of Design in New York. Later, she taught landscape design and architectural drawing and design at the New School for Social Research in New York.
She was a member of the Falmouth Beautification Council, the Falmouth Woman’s Club, the ABC Quilters, and the Falmouth Senior Center sewing and quilting clubs.
Ms. Rubin leaves her sons, James E. Rubin of Falmouth, and Edward Rubin and his wife, Sally Rubin, of Oakland, California; her grandson, Sam Rubin of Oakland, California; and her brother, Herschel Kanter of Arlington, Virginia.
A celebration of her life will be held in the fall at a time to be announced.
