Richard S. Carroll of East Falmouth and Naples, Florida, died on April 9 in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth after a brief illness. He was 85.
He was married to Elizabeth L. (Hart) Carroll for 58 years.
Mr. Carroll was born in Waltham. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of New Mexico and his master of education degree from Boston State College.
He was the president of Allyn & Bacon Publishing Company.
In addition to his wife he leaves his children, Elaine Hansen of London, Kathryn Snyder and her husband, Joseph Snyder, of Louisa, Virginia, Robert Carroll of Stoneham, John Carroll and his wife, Beth Carroll of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Amy White and her husband, Christopher White, of Portland, Oregon, and Susan Carroll and her husband, Christoph Heisenberg, of Bedford, New York; his grandchildren, Alexander and Charlotte Hansen, Shannon Baker, John, Ellen, Grace and Mary Carroll, Connor, Sebastian and Aidan White, and Charlotte and Natasha Heisenberg; and a great-grandchild, Liam Baker.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 AM at the church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
