Rita M. Pearl, 95, of Mashpee died August 12 at the JML Care Center in Falmouth after a brief period of declining health.
Her husband, Clifford F. Pearl, died in 2006. They were married for 42 years.
Born in Everett, Ms. Pearl graduated from Medford High School. During World War II, she served in the US Navy as a military recruiter working out of Atlanta, Georgia.
After many years in Norwood, Ms. Pearl moved to Cape Cod following her husband’s retirement. They also spent their winters in Fort Myers, Florida.
While living in Mashpee, Ms. Pearl was actively involved with the Carol H. Jacobson Senior Center.
Ms. Pearl leaves a daughter, Roberta Pearl of Memphis, Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Donna Peters of Vail, Arizona; two stepsons, Edward N. Pearl of North Attleboro and Richard E. Pearl of Murray, Utah; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was the stepmother of the late Clifford F. Pearl Jr., who died in 2005, and the sister of the late Marilyn Holden, who died in 2013.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 PM in the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
