Robert F. Tierney, 79, of Sandwich died on June 21.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Carol (Vito) Tierney.
Mr. Tierney was a Korean War veteran and served in Massachusetts law enforcement for 34 years. He started his career as a police officer in Dedham. Later, he became a police officer for the Metropolitan District Commission before finishing his career as a trooper with the Massachusetts State Police.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Karen A. Tierney of Litchfield, New Hampshire, Kathy A. Glynn of Norfolk, Robert F. Tierney Jr. of Sandwich, Richard L. Tierney of Sandwich, Russell E. Tierney of Sandwich, and Kelly A. Burke of Scituate; and 15 grandchildren.
He also leaves his sisters, Marguerite Cluff of Marshfield and June Meadows of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were set to be held on Friday, June 27, from 6 to 9 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue, Mashpee.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, at 10 AM at Parish of Christ the King, 3 Job’s Fishing Road, Mashpee.
Burial will follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
