Thomas Kerins Queenan, 72, of Bourne died at home on June 16.
He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine E. (Hayes) Queenan.
The youngest of three children, Mr. Queenan was a graduate of Newton High School. He took pride in having attended the school before it was split into Newton North and Newton South.
He was drafted into the US Army, where he rose to the rank of sergeant and scored as a marksman on the rifle range. He was honorably discharged after six years of service.
Mr. Queenan later attended the University of Massachusetts and became an accountant.
In addition to Newton and Bourne, Mr. Queenan also lived in Milton.
After retiring, he and his wife moved permanently to Cape Cod, where they had summered for many years.
He enjoyed teaching his children to ice skate, shoot hockey wrist shots, and create spreadsheets. He also enjoyed technology, reading and following Boston sports.
Mr. Queenan leaves his adopted children, Jennifer B. Queenan and David M. Queenan; his brother, James F. Queenan Jr.; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Louise Borges.
A graveside service with military honors was held on June 25 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
