Warren Babcock Jr., 74, of Mashpee died at home on May 3 after a long struggle with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
He was born in Rye, New York, and earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Brown University in 1961.
Mr. Babcock retired from Boston Edison after working as a control systems engineer at the Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station in Plymouth.
After retiring he did contract work for several engineering companies, including Duke Engineering and Foxboro Company.
He served in the US Army signal corps in Korea and was a member of the American Legion.
A lifelong steam train fan, he was a longtime member of the Roanoke Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
He leaves his wife of 15 years, Jean (Handfield) Babcock of Mashpee; one brother, George Babcock of Lincoln, Rhode Island; one nephew, David Hemming of Clinton, Connecticut; and extended family in New Jersey.
Mr. Babcock was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Hemming.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 17, from 1 to 3 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee, followed by a memorial service at 3 PM in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Upton at a later date.
