This week we celebrate Patriots Day to commemorate the first battle in the Revolutionary War.
It all started over self-governing due to an overbearing government. Those who fail to learn from the past repeat it.
Last year the Legislature passed taxation without representation when they linked the gas tax to inflation. Our gas tax will automatically increase every year without a vote of the Legislature. That’s wrong. If the Legislature wants more money out of our wallets, then they should at least have to vote for it.
Who do we hold accountable when we are paying $1 in taxes for a gallon of gas? Who do we hold responsible when filling up a tank we have to pay $10 in taxes?
Why do we pay these legislators if they are not willing to vote on such matters?
Enough is enough. It is time to repeal the gas tax link to inflation.
