Readers Should Decide - Letter

A letter to the editor in last week’s edition took issue with my characterization of the speakers’ comments at the July 22 board of selectmen’s meeting as “racist and hateful.” Strong language, to be sure.

But rather than engage in a back-and-forth with the author of the letter, I would like to suggest that you, the reader, be the judge of the accuracy of the description.  The meeting can be viewed at It is easy—just go to “Programs,” check channel 15, and search “Selectmen” and then click on the July 22 meeting. If you do so, I believe it will be clear why the selectmen’s actions were so controversial.
