Citing health concerns, Oak Ridge School principal Patrice M. Hurley announced that she will be retiring from her position, effective October 3.
According to a press release from the office of superintendent C. Richard Canfield, Ms. Hurley had discussed her decision with the school committee and then informed her fellow administrators. She then sent an e-mail to all Oak Ridge families and staff to inform them as well.
“We extend our support and best wishes as she attends to her personal needs,” Dr. Canfield said in the statement. “This community is deeply grateful for all she has contributed to Oak Ridge and to the district.”
Dr. Canfield has appointed Patricia M. Hill, the district science coordinator, to serve as acting principal of Oak Ridge. In order to ensure her success, Dr. Canfield is having her work closely with both Ms. Hurley and assistant principal Marian McPherson.
