Sandwich Woman Arrested For New Year's Eve Stabbing

Police arrested an East Sandwich woman who allegedly stabbed a man multiple times in the thigh during an argument on New Year’s Eve.

The man, 62, was seriously injured in the stabbing and taken by paramedics to a Boston hospital for treatment.

The woman, Debra Baiona, 58, of Ploughed Neck Road, East Sandwich, was arrested for the stabbing and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, causing serious bodily injury.

Police first learned of the stabbing at 6:15 PM when a private ambulance company called to report they were at the CVS Pharmacy on Route 6A with the victim.


When police arrived, the man told them he had been in an altercation with Ms. Baiona. They observed multiple stab wounds to the man’s left thigh.

Police went to the home and arrested Ms. Baiona. She is being held on $5,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Thursday.
