Bourne Cross-Country Runners Claim Victory Over Apponequet

The Bourne boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams ran to victory Tuesday over visiting Apponequet. Bri Newell (23:35) finished second overall leading the Lady Canalmen (3-3) to a 26-31 win, with Stacie Tonello (23:51) third. Molly Powers (25:28) was fifth and Kate Pedicord and Sarah Garvin rounded out the scoring, coming in seventh and ninth respectively.

John McWade led the boys (2-4) to a 26-29 victory in a time of 18:01. Travis Johnston came in second at 18:45. Ian Morgan finished strong at 19:59 to take fifth place. John Moylan came in at 20:25 and Matt Caron finished at 21:11.

“The athletes knew that Apponequet was evenly matched with us and this would be a tough meet,” coach Erin Kennedy said. “Both girls and boys wanted the win and began and ended the race strong. I’m extremely pleased with the way the team is competing and we’re looking strong heading into the championship meet.”
