The Lady Canalmen picked up their first win of the spring season on Saturday as they edged visiting Upper Cape Tech by a score of 6-5.
With the score knotted at 5-5 entering the bottom of the seventh, Erica Fleming singled and took second on a groundout by Emily Gregoire. Bjelf moved Fleming to third on a groundout. Jenna Sundquist then stepped in and launched a fly ball into right field that was misplayed, allowing Fleming to score from third.

Bourne was first on the scoreboard Saturday afternoon, plating two runs in the bottom of the second. Base hits by Molly Neill and Renee Moore put runners at first and second. Fleming was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Gregoire grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Neill and Bjelf singled down the third base line to bring home Moore.
The Rams put up a run in the top of the fifth when Molly Horn tripled and scored. In the bottom of the inning Bourne added two more runs to take a 4-1 lead. A triple by Neill was followed by a triple by Moore. Fleming was again hit by a pitch. Gregoire grounded into a fielder’s choice with the Rams cutting down Moore at the plate. Bjelf then hit a ball down the first base line, with an error allowing Fleming to score.
The Rams pushed two runs across in the top of the sixth. Krystle DiBona led off with a base hit, followed by two Bourne errors that allowed DiBona to score. A dropped third strike and throw down to first allowed a second UCT runner to cross the plate.
The Lady Canalmen pushed their fifth run across in the bottom of the sixth when Michelle Fleming scored on a base hit by Moore.
The Rams still had plenty of gas in the tank as they drove in two runs in the top of the seventh, that included a triple by Hannah Rawlings and a base hit by Amelia Weare, to tie the game at 5-5. UCT was almost out of the inning when Bourne took advantage of the fielding miscue to plate the game winner.
Weare pitched a complete game for the Rams, surrendering three earned runs.
